Coming Soon

Pete, Mike and Bob at the closing ceremony
of the 2006 WSIEP in Wuhan.

Hello/ Ni Hao.
My name is Pete, and I'll be assisting Mike this summer. We've been busy trying to make sure that this is the best Wuhan to Ohio Summer Program yet. We're very excited that you're coming and are looking forward to meeting you all soon.

To introduce myself, I've been teaching English at Ohio State since 1992. I was a teacher in the Wuhan University Summer Intensive English Program in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009 and 2010, I stayed here with Mike for WTOSP. I love China and have many friends there. I have taught more than one thousand WuDa students to play baseball, and soon, I'll teach you, too. One of the reasons it's such a pleasure to have you all here in Ohio is that it provides Mike and I an opportunity to return some of the excellent hospitality and kindness we've experienced in Wuhan. The time I've spent in Wuhan and traveling around China has changed my life--I hope that your time here with us is similarly transformational.

As we get going, I'll be posting some academic opportunities here for you all--even some homework. We have a pretty good balance between learning and fun this summer--most of the time, they'll happen simultaneously. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity--ask questions, talk to the people you meet and don't be shy.

Until Wednesday,
Pete
